Before you begin
- Have a public video link from a supported source, or a local video file.
- Check that the source link is accessible and that you have permission to reuse the clip.
- Keep enough free space on your phone for the source video and the exported copy.
Step by step
Copy the source video link
Use the source app or browser to copy the link to the video itself. A profile, search results page or private post may not be a supported video source.
Paste it on the home screen
Open BeTheClip and paste the link into the link field. Start the download and wait for the app to return the actual result before moving on.
Preview the downloaded video
Open the video and check that it is the clip you wanted. Review the picture, duration and sound before deciding whether to trim or mute it.
Save or prepare the next step
Save the project if you want to return to it. Export an edited video when you are ready, or continue to sharing if the source clip already meets your needs.
Check the result
If the download fails
Check the link, network connection and whether the source is supported. A failed or unsupported link is not a completed download. If you have a local copy, use gallery or file import.
Check the file, not only the link
Play the imported video before sharing it. Make sure the beginning and ending are correct, then choose whether you need the full clip or a shorter excerpt.
What to know
- BeTheClip is not a universal downloader. Private, restricted, removed or unsupported sources may fail.
- Downloading a file does not publish it. Review the clip and finish any destination app's posting steps yourself.
Questions and answers
Can I edit a downloaded video?
Yes. Open the imported clip in the editor. Trimming and muting are Free; frame, rotation, text, cover and mosaic tools require Plus access or an active trial.
Can I use a video already saved on my phone?
Yes. Choose gallery or file import on the home screen. You can then preview, edit, export and share the local video.
Does every video URL work?
No. The source and the specific link must be supported and accessible. A link on the web is not a guarantee that the app can download its video.
