Add text to a video on Android

A short title can help a viewer understand a clip before they hear its audio. BeTheClip's text tool lets you add text to a video and position it inside the picture.

Use a concise phrase and a readable placement. A title overlay is different from an automatically generated transcript: this workflow starts with text you enter yourself.

Plus access or an active trial is required for video text. Free import, trimming, muting, saving, exporting and sharing are available separately.

Before you begin

  • Import your video and choose the duration and frame you want first.
  • Prepare the short title or message you want to add.
  • Find a place where the text will remain readable without hiding the main subject.

Step by step

  1. Prepare the clip's framing

Trim the duration if needed and decide on the final frame before placing text. A later crop can exclude text that was positioned near an edge.

  2. Enter your text

Open the text tool in the editor and enter the title or message. Keep it short enough to read comfortably on a phone while the video is playing.

  3. Adjust the text position

Adjust the text selection in the preview to place the overlay, then tap Apply. Text appearance uses the app's existing defaults; check readability against lighter and darker moments of the actual background.

  4. Preview and export

Play through the result to check the words, placement and readability. Export the edited video and inspect that file before continuing to sharing.

Keep the important picture visible

Avoid covering faces, hands, product details or existing essential labels. For vertical clips, leave some room near the edges where a receiving app may place its own controls.

Read it at phone size

A title that looks good while zoomed in can be too small in a post. Preview the video at a realistic size and shorten or reposition the text if necessary.

What to know

  • This is a manual text overlay workflow. It does not promise automatic transcription, subtitle translation or speech recognition.
  • The receiving app may add controls or crop a preview. Review the final post composition in that app before publishing.
